Four million euros for the semi-Olympic swimming pool that will serve the Mediterranean Games
Kosovo is continuing with the pace of major sports projects, while a semi-Olympic swimming pool worth 4 million euros is being built in Podujeva, a project that aims to serve both athletes in the 2030 Mediterranean Games and the local community.
The works, which began during the summer, are progressing rapidly and are considered an example of dynamism in sports infrastructure.
The acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, emphasizes that the project, which costs four million euros, has progressed much faster than initially expected and marks an important step in the modernization of sports.
Çeku: The semi-Olympic swimming pool is a four million euro investment
"Here we are, at the semi-Olympic swimming pool, the total investment value is 4 million euros. The works here started this summer, in June, and you can already see, within a few months there is an extraordinary dynamics of the works. The contract is three years, but the works will be completed much earlier and this shows that we have a dynamism of the works, the works in general in the consolidation of the sports infrastructure of Kosovo", emphasized Çeku.
He added that these sports facilities play a crucial role in preparing athletes for the Mediterranean Games, which will be held in Pristina in 2030.
Çeku: Such spaces serve to prepare for the Mediterranean Games
"The Mediterranean Games have gyms, fields, spaces where games, matches take place, and they have other spaces where training preparations, training and more are carried out. So the more such auxiliary spaces, the better we prepare for the Mediterranean Games. The game, namely the sport of swimming and other water sports in pools, will take place in the Aquatic Center that we will build, while the other spaces, the semi-Olympic pools that we are building, as well as the other sports halls, will also have an auxiliary role in the sense of the place where athletes prepare, where they do their training, their preparations for the official games", declared Çeku.
The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has also spoken about the importance of this semi-Olympic swimming pool in Podujeva.
Kurti: Semi-Olympic swimming pool is very important for interstate games
"It is very valuable, as the Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, constantly emphasizes, for the interstate games to have this semi-Olympic swimming pool, besides of course it will be a good place for recreation, for the people of Llapje and not only, for all those guests who will come to this municipality and this region," Kurti emphasized.
The semi-Olympic swimming pool in Podujevo is part of a wider investment package being developed as part of preparations for the Mediterranean Games.
Otherwise, Kosovo has committed to building several sports centers and halls in the country's main municipalities, with the aim of Kosovo having a modern and functional infrastructure for international events in the country.
