1 month detention for two people suspected of selling and transporting drugs

The Basic Court in Gjakova has approved the request of the Basic Prosecution Office of Gjakova, ordering the detention of thirty (30) days for the two defendants MR and AB.

The defendants are suspected of having, from an unspecified time in 2018 until December 08, 2018, in concert, without authorization, distributed, sold, transported and brokered narcotic substances which are legally declared as marijuana-type narcotics.

With these actions, it is suspected that the defendants MR and AB, in complicity, committed the criminal offense of "unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics, psychotropic and analogous substances" as provided for in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK).

The defendants will be held in custody for a period of one month, which will be calculated from the time of arrest on December 08, 2018 and will last until January 8, 2018.

The judge of the preliminary procedure has assessed that the legal conditions for setting the measure of detention for the defendants in question have been met, because, even if the same is found at liberty, there is a risk of escape and they may influence the witnesses.

The parties have the right to appeal against this decision to the Court of Appeals.
