12 years in prison for Ferizaj man who attempted to kill 4 people from the non-majority community

The Basic Court of Ferizaj, Department for Serious Crimes, has announced a guilty verdict against the defendant FI, for the following criminal offense: "Attempted aggravated murder".

The trial panel, after holding the initial hearing and accepting the guilty plea, found the defendant FI guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison, which will include the time spent in pre-trial detention.

On November 11, 2024, at around 15:29 p.m., on “RB” Street in Ferizaj, intentionally, due to their ethnicity, attempted to deprive the children aged 10 and 14, members of the Ashkali community, of their lives, in such a way that while the injured were walking on the road, the defendant, who was also walking on foot in the opposite direction, after passing the injured, turned back and with quick steps approached them from behind and stabbed them several times in the shoulder area with a kitchen knife with the inscription “Berlinger House” with a length of 32 cm and a blade length of 19 cm, causing serious bodily injuries to the 10-year-old injured person, including a puncture wound on the left side of the chest, a fracture of the VI and VII ribs on the left side, a puncture wound in the lower lobe of the left lung, a puncture wound in the left side of the diaphragm, which also caused blood and air to accumulate in the left chest cavity, which injuries were caused by the mechanical action of the sharp and pointed instrument, which were life-threatening at the time of the injury, while the 14-year-old injured person suffered minor bodily injuries and a cutting wound in the right shoulder region caused by the mechanical action of the sharp instrument, which caused temporary damage to health.

There is a well-founded suspicion that on November 11, 2024, at around 15:30 p.m. on “ET” Street in Ferizaj, intentionally, due to ethnicity, attempted to deprive the injured party NM, aged 32, a member of the Egyptian community, of his life, in such a way that while the injured party was entering the “V.” cafeteria, the defendant struck him with a kitchen knife with the inscription “Berlinger House” with a length of 32 cm and a blade length of 19 cm, hitting him in the head, neck and right side of the face, causing minor bodily injuries and a laceration in the parietal region of the head, in the chin region, on the left side of the neck and on the right side of the face, which caused temporary damage to health.

There is a well-founded suspicion that on November 11, 2024, at around 15:53 p.m. on the "HS" street in Ferizaj, intentionally due to ethnicity, he attempted to deprive the injured party EA, aged 29, a member of the Roma community, of his life, in such a way that while the injured party was moving on foot with a wheelchair, the defendant approached and struck him with a kitchen knife with the inscription "Berlinger House" with a length of 32 cm and a blade length of 19 cm, in the chest, from which the blow caused serious bodily injuries and that piercing, cutting wound on the right side of the chest, fracture of the IV rib on the right side, and cutting wound in the upper lobe of the right lung, causing blood and air to accumulate in the right chest cavity, which injuries were life-threatening at the time of infliction.

In accordance with Article 366, paragraph 5 and 6, in conjunction with paragraph 1, subparagraph 1.1 of the CPC, the defendant's detention is extended until the judgment becomes final, but not longer than the term of the sentence imposed in the judgment.
