​1729 mammograms in one week in stationary units in Albania

The Health Care Service Operator reports that during one week, 1729 mammograms were performed in stationary units throughout Albania.

According to official figures published by OSKSH, from October 6-12, 2025, a total of 1729 mammograms were performed, offered free of charge in polyclinics and hospitals across the country, as part of the breast cancer prevention program.

OSKSH states in the announcement that the health center with the most mammograms performed is No. 3 in the capital, ATSH reports, according to KosovaPress.

Pink October is the month that serves to inform and raise public awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and prevention of the disease, which continues to be one of the leading causes of mortality in the world.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has extended its awareness campaign not only in October, but throughout the year, through stationary mammograms or mobile units in various cities across the country.

Also, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports has enabled every woman or girl, through the "e-Albania" portal, to decide on the time and place of performing a mammogram by planning it in advance.
