7 years since the start of the realization of the dream for the Kosovo Army
It is December 14, 2018, the day when 106 members of the Kosovo Assembly gave the green light to the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into an army, voting on three draft laws that began the transformation over a 10-year period.
This Sunday marks 7 years since this day, and the Kosovo Security Force has now entered the crucial years of its transformation.
During that time, the Prime Minister of Kosovo was Ramush Haradinaj, who on the 7th anniversary said that it was among the most important state-forming decisions of the post-war period, sharing on Facebook parts of his speech years ago.
Former Kosovo Security Force general Afrim Veseli recalled the moments of that day that will always remain in his memory.
"I can never forget in my entire life, when the fathers of the freedom struggle Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli and Ramush Haradinaj came that night and held the ceremony at the Ministry of the Kosovo Security Force, which from that night was transformed into the Ministry of Defense, so this entire journey was capitalized with legal changes, thanking the then former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj...", Veseli declared.
But he is saying that the military should be supported even more.
"During all these years since that date, the Kosovo Security Force has had extraordinary progress, thanking the members of the KSF, who with the greatest dedication have managed to increase the capacities of the Kosovo Security Force so that it can become operational as soon as possible according to this 10-year development plan, what needs to be done to strengthen our army, for our army every time, every year, financial capacities must be allocated..", he emphasized.
Kosovo soldiers have already exceeded all expectations in the progress made over the years, says security expert Avni Islami.
"Today, seven years ago, the Kosovo Security Force received the full title of the Kosovo Army, as a result of the work and sacrifice of the KLA, the KPC, and today we have the Kosovo Armed Forces, the KSF, which to date has achieved a high level of professionalism and logistics, and all predictions have been exceeded in the advancement and completion of the Kosovo Security Force, and I believe that in the coming years, and now when the world is boiling with their strategies and their armaments, the KSF will also follow the same path...", emphasized Avni Islami - Security Expert, writes RTVDukagjini.
The Kosovo Security Force was established in 2009 based on the Ahtisaari Plan, a document that led to Kosovo's independence.
After the end of the war in Kosovo, in agreement with NATO, the Kosovo Protection Corps was formed as an emergency force, which later became the Kosovo Security Force.
