One month of detention is set for the suspect in a serious attempted murder in Peja

The Department for Serious Crimes, with the pre-trial judge Shaqë Curri, has ordered the defendant EI to be detained for one (1) month, following the request of the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja - Department for Serious Crimes.

According to the court's announcement, the detention measure was ordered due to the well-founded suspicion that the defendant EI committed the criminal offense of "Attempted Aggravated Murder", sanctioned by Article 173 paragraph 1, subparagraph 1.3, in conjunction with Article 28 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The suspicions relate to a serious case, where the victim is suspected to be the defendant's ex-wife. The court has assessed that the legal conditions for ordering detention have been met, as provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The detention of EI began on January 20, 2026, at 13:50 PM, and will last until February 19, 2026, at 16:00 PM.

Investigations regarding this case are ongoing.
