A defect forces Toyota to recall over 1 million cars from the market
Toyota has issued a massive recall affecting more than a million vehicles.
They may have a defect that prevents the rear camera from appearing properly on the screen if the driver performs certain actions too soon after starting the vehicle.
As reported, the cars may encounter two problems.
The software may cause the rear view image to freeze when reverse gear is selected within a certain time frame after the vehicle is started, or the image may not appear.
Toyota began investigating the potential problem in April 2024, after receiving field reports in Japan.
During testing, the automaker discovered a software problem and decided, late last month, to issue a recall, as the vehicles might not meet standards.
The recall affects nearly every Toyota and Lexus model.
It even includes the Subaru Solterra model.
