About 8 thousand births in a year, Ndrejaj: Gynecology is the first and safest door for Kosovo women
The Gynecology Clinic at UCCK continues to remain one of the most important health institutions in the country, due to the large number of patients it treats each year. During 2024 alone, about 8 thousand births were performed at the Gynecology Clinic, a number that is almost the same as the previous year. While during this year so far, over 6,200 births have been registered, which testifies to the great trust that citizens have in this clinic.
And the director of the Gynecology Clinic, Zef Ndrejaj, in an interview for "Indeksonline", shared details about the work, challenges and investments made in this institution.
Director Ndrejaj says that during the years he has been running this clinic, there have been challenges, but the praise has outweighed the complaints. He encourages patients to report them officially.
"Since I took over the management of the clinic, I have received more praise than complaints. I have requested that every complaint be made in writing and be substantiated. We do not avoid responsibility, on the contrary, every case is examined with maximum seriousness," he said.
Ndrejaj says that Gynecology at UCCK remains a referral center for all of Kosovo and often accepts patients with serious conditions and complicated cases that cannot be managed in private clinics or regional hospitals.
"There are many cases that come to us complicated by private clinics, due to a lack of staff, conditions for intensive treatment or necessary equipment for emergency interventions. We treat them with special care and high professionalism," says Ndrejaj.
Ndrejaj says that in the last three years, the Clinic has experienced a significant transformation in terms of infrastructure. Rooms with eight patients each have been reduced to rooms with two patients each, equipped with modern sanitary facilities, including bathrooms inside the room.
"We have invested in better conditions for patients. We have also added several new services, in line with modern treatment standards," he says.
One of the main challenges mentioned by Director Ndrejaj is the lack of nurses.
"In some wards, where up to 40 patients are treated, there are only 2-3 nurses per shift. We request staff increases every year, but budget constraints are a constant obstacle. However, we have enough doctors and there is no lack of professionalism," he says.
According to the director, the clinic has a staff with extensive experience and high professional training.
"Professionally, we offer treatment at the highest level. Every patient is treated with respect and dedication," he said.
He admits that in the past there have been challenges in terms of staff communication with patients, but that the situation has improved significantly.
"We have held training sessions for nurses on better behavior with patients. Better conditions and more humane treatment have also reduced dissatisfaction," he says.
Ndrejaj emphasizes that patients are welcome to file any complaint, but in an institutional manner.
"We have a complaint box at the entrance to the clinic. Every complaint that comes in and is substantiated is handled by the relevant committee," he says.
Although there are occasional complaints about treatment, Ndrejaj conveyed a clear message to all women and girls who choose gynecology for treatment.
According to him, the treatment of patients is at the highest level and there is no room for doubt about this. He also claims that the clinic he has been running for several years now belongs to the citizens and that every woman should feel safe there, as if she were in her own home.
"The Gynecology Clinic is the first door to your healthcare. We are here to serve you with professionalism and dedication. Every time the Gynecology Clinic will be a reference center and the main center in service of citizens and patients without distinction. The clinic belongs to everyone. The treatment is at the highest level. No patient can doubt or bypass the Gynecology Clinic, because we have no other better solution in Kosovo. So do not hesitate and do not cause panic in the media in vain, because patients have this door. This is their clinic and the patient here will feel like they are at home", says Ndrejaj. /Indeksonline/
