After two decades, Nicole Kidman returns as Chanel ambassador
More than two decades after the iconic campaign for Chanel No. 5 perfume, directed by director Baz Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman has rejoined Chanel as the fashion house's new ambassador.
The Oscar-winning actress will make her first appearance at Matthieu Blazy's debut runway show as Chanel's creative director, where she will appear in a masculine white shirt and baggy jeans, the first look from the highly anticipated collection.
Kidman was one of the first figures to turn a fashion show into a pop culture event when she walked in Chanel's spring 2005 show curated by Karl Lagerfeld. She has remained an integral part of Chanel's history, wearing a dress from the 2004 campaign to the 2023 Met Gala.
In a statement to WWD, Kidman said: "I am thrilled to be joining Chanel again, this time under the vision of Matthieu Blazy. Chanel has always known how to honor women with intelligence and elegance."
Blazy, who previously dressed the actress during his tenure at Bottega Veneta, said: "Nicole is the embodiment of the Chanel woman, free and always changing. It's a dream to work with her again."
Chanel president Bruno Pavlovsky stressed that the brand aims to bring in new faces, without leaving behind its loyal ambassadors.
