Albanian prisoner kills Pakistani in cell, sentenced to life in prison in Greece

A prisoner of Albanian origin, who was serving his sentence in Domokos Prison in Greece, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of another prisoner of Pakistani origin in the Chania Prison Detention Center.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2019, when a group of prisoners, including the Albanian, clashed with a group of Pakistanis, resulting in the injury of three people, one of whom was seriously injured after being stabbed with an improvised knife. The Pakistani, according to the footage, was hit by the Albanian.

The prisoner, of Pakistani origin, was taken to the Chania Hospital after his injury, where he underwent surgery, but died in the Intensive Care Unit.

The case was heard at the Court of Appeals with a mixed jury of Crete, which unanimously found the main defendant guilty of intentional homicide in a sound psychological state committed in collaboration.

In contrast, three other defendants were acquitted of the charges due to suspicion, after the court ruled that insufficient evidence was found to prove their participation in the murder.
