Australian PM: Sydney attack is terrorism
The mass shooting on Bondi Beach outside Sydney that left at least 11 dead is an attack on the Jewish community, senior Australian officials said, and police have described it as a terrorist attack.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it was a devastating terrorist attack on Australian Jews on the first day of Hanukkah, saying it was difficult to comprehend the evil that had happened.
"An evil act of anti-Semitism, terrorism that struck the heart of our nation," Albanese said.
He said that all efforts will be made to ensure the safety and protection of the Jewish community and added that police and security agencies are working to identify all persons connected to this targeted attack.
