BMW opens battery technology development center
Over the next four years, the German automaker will invest 200 million euros in the advancement of batteries.
The Bavarian giant plans to open a center in Munich in 2019 that will deal with battery technology.
Experts at this center will produce prototypes of the new battery cell system.
This will enable the creation of new battery specifications, according to which manufacturers can produce batteries exclusively for BMW.
The aim of the center will be to gather knowledge about batteries that BMW will be able to use regardless of whether they only produce batteries in the future.
The opening of this research center is in line with BMW's "Number One > Next" strategy that revolves around the car of the future, namely electrification, digitalization and autonomous driving.
