BMW recalls one million cars over fire risk
German car manufacturer BMW announced today the recall of about one million cars in North America, to avoid a fire risk, without ruling out the possibility of affecting other markets.
"The first operation involves around 700000 3 Series models manufactured between 2006 and 2011 to prevent a risk of overheating of the air conditioning system. The second operation also includes around 700000 cars equipped with six-cylinder engines, 3 Series and other models, exposed to a valve problem that could cause an explosion or, in extreme cases, a fire," BMW said in a statement.
The majority of cases are concentrated in the US, with 15000 in the Canadian market.
The Munich firm does not rule out that other markets could also be affected by the recall of BMW cars for the same reasons.
