Basha meets representatives of the Independent Trade Union of RTK and the Trade Union Association of Radio Kosovo

The Independent Trade Union of RTK and the Trade Union Association of Radio Kosovo protested today in front of the Kosovo Assembly.

They were met by the Speaker of Parliament, Dimal Basha, who then welcomed their representatives to the meeting.

According to the announcement, the conversation took place with good understanding, with the aim of finding a fair solution for the deserved salaries of RTK employees and for the sustainable financial functioning of the public broadcasting institution.

"As Speaker of the Assembly, I have given my full support for resolving this situation, as we now have a functional Assembly and there is a legal possibility to act in this direction. I maintained the same approach at the first meeting of the Presidency of the Assembly, where I requested the formation of parliamentary bodies, in order to pave the way for the relevant Budget Committee, which would then be able to approve the RTK Expenditure Report and enable the processing of funds through the Treasury of the Republic of Kosovo", stressed Basha.

"However, added President Basha, this support is not sufficient, since, as he said, the establishment of parliamentary committees requires the participation of more than half of the members of the Assembly, while a simple majority of them is needed for approval," the announcement states, among other things.

"Therefore, in the spirit of cooperation and understanding, I call on all MPs and other parliamentary entities to support this initiative, because voting for committees is not a political issue, but a matter of the functioning of the public broadcasting institution and the well-being of around 700 families who live off the work and salaries of RTK employees," Basha emphasized.
