Brazilian football is shocked: 18-year-old footballer is killed by his brother

Brazilian football is in mourning after the tragic death of young talent Wanderson Brandão de Sousa, just 18 years old, who lost his life from a bullet allegedly accidentally fired by his younger brother while the latter was cleaning a gun.

The incident took place on Monday at the family's home in Aragoiania, in the Brazilian state of Goiás. According to local reports, police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, while the gun has been seized for forensic examination. It is not yet known who the fatal weapon belonged to.

Wanderson was a left-back for Aragoiania FC, and the club, shocked by the loss, suspended all sporting activities. In a reaction on social media, the club wrote:

“Our condolences to the family and friends of Wanderson Brandão de Sousa. May God comfort us all.”

Residents of the city have expressed pain and shock over the premature departure of the young footballer, who was considered a promising talent, now part of the club's first team.

Just a few weeks ago, another young Brazilian player, Antony Ylano, lost his life in a tragic road accident, colliding his motorbike with a cow crossing the road.

Brazilian football is thus facing another heavy defeat, which has left behind pain, tears and many question marks.
