Brestovci aims to include the diaspora in politics in Kosovo

The candidate for deputy from the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Brestovci, has explained why he left the diaspora to return to live and work in Kosovo.

Brestovci, who was the head of the Albanian-German Business Union for almost three years, said that one of the reasons he returned to Kosovo is the advancement of all projects that were part of the Albanian-German Business Union platform.

"The reason was very simple and specifically related to the diaspora. I have conceived a project of my own, which is related to the inclusion of the diaspora in politics and active political life. It was a concept that we also discussed with other political parties, because it was not specifically dedicated to just one political entity. Of course, I saw the greatest scope for action in the Social Democratic Initiative and for this purpose I was also oriented towards the Social Democratic Initiative", said Brestovci, among other things.

He further said that Nisma's support in the diaspora has also increased and that this party will soon establish a special department for the diaspora.

"A department that will include the diaspora in the party's leadership structures, whether in the Central Council or in the Presidency. But there will also be reserved seats on the lists, as well as partial participation in governance, in government departments. This is the innovation that I have brought to the Social Democratic Initiative and my reason for the approach is directly in creating opportunities for the diaspora to have direct involvement in my policy-making in Kosovo," he added.

The candidate for MP said that the diaspora has an additional motive to vote for the Initiative, because for the first time there is a representative in the diaspora who is running for MP with a concept for the diaspora within the entity he represents.
