Chief Prosecutor Lumezi reveals what is happening with the indictment in the "fake veterans" case
The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo is working intensively on completing the indictments for the case known as the "fake veterans" case, which has been returned to the Special for completion and clarification.
The Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, has made a statement regarding this issue.
He, in a statement for "Indeksonline"He indicated that they have not yet sent the indictment in the veterans' case to court."
According to Lumezi, the same is being intensively processed and will be forwarded to the court within the deadlines.
"We have not yet sent the indictment in the veterans' case to the court. We are working intensively on this and within the 30-day deadline given to us by the court, we will improve the indictment and forward it to the court to proceed further with this case," Lumezi declared for "Indeksonline".
Otherwise, the reason for returning the indictment, according to the presiding judge of the Trial Panel, is because the enacting clause of the indictment in the factual description of the criminal offense is confusing and as such does not allow for fair proceedings without numerous delays and obstacles to this process.
The court had previously announced that this was done because the indictment was not drafted in accordance with Article 241, paragraph 1, point 1.4 of the CPC. Reasons were also given regarding the cancellation of the hearing session for the review of the interim measure for securing the legal property claim.
We recall that in the case of the veterans, it has been decided that the judge, Nushe Kukaj-Mekaj, will judge. The latter is the wife of the son of Sali Mekaj's uncle, former president of the Court of Appeal and the District Court in Peja./Indeksonline/
