Debt to KRU "Prishtina" exceeds 45 million euros, disconnection and execution are warned

The total debt of consumers towards KRU "Prishtina", which includes the household sector and small and large businesses in eight municipalities where this company manages water supply, has reached over 45 million euros. This was announced by the spokesperson of KRU "Prishtina", Arjeta Mjeku, in a statement for Ekonomia Online.

The doctor warned citizens that if they do not pay their bills for another 16 days, they will go to the bailiff or be disconnected.

According to her, around 40 million euros are debts of the household sector, while over 5 million euros belong to small and large businesses.

"The total debt of consumers in the household sector, as well as small and large businesses, towards water supply services, a water supply that manages 8 municipalities in 40 percent of the territory of Kosovo, is over 45 million euros. 40 million continues to be the debt of the household sector and over 5 million euros of the small and large business sector," she said.

"We have given citizens a deadline to fulfill their financial obligations for water services, because this water they receive from their springs is not natural water, it is not water that is taken directly from Batllava, but it is taken from Batllava, goes to the water treatment plant, is treated, goes through all the technological processes for treatment, which is a very high cost for the company until it reaches the consumer," she said.

The spokesperson for the RWC "Prishtina" has warned that in case of non-payment of obligations, the company will take punitive measures.

She explained that disconnection from water supply services can occur if the consumer has two or more unpaid bills, after three to five warnings have been sent in advance.

According to her, in addition to disconnection from the water supply network, cases can also be processed by a private bailiff.

"From today, they have 16 days to settle their debt, but there are also facilities for consumers who do not have economic conditions, because we understand the situation in our country. They can pay 10 percent of the total debt and program the remaining part from 12 to 36 months without any additional interest. Disconnection from water supply services occurs because two unpaid bills and above are a debt. We can disconnect each consumer if we have previously sent 3 to 5 warnings, so disconnection from water supply services, as well as sending the case to a private bailiff," she said.
