Detention requested for two Palestinian citizens, suspected of "Counterfeiting Money"

The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj has requested from the Basic Court in Ferizaj to impose a detention order on the defendants: MO and ZN, Palestinian citizens, due to suspicion of the criminal offense: "Counterfeiting of Money" according to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

According to the request submitted by the prosecution, there is a well-founded suspicion that on 06.02.2026, at around 19:30, at the "Ballkan Petrol" fuel station on the Ferizaj - Prishtina highway, specifically in the village of Prelez i Jerlive, the defendant MO, knowingly knowing that it was counterfeit, put counterfeit money into circulation as real money, thereby committing the criminal offense of "Counterfeiting of Money" under Article 296, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.

"Also, according to the prosecution, for the defendants MO and ZN, there is a well-founded suspicion that on 07.02.2026, on Rr. "Skënderbeu" in Kaçanik, they co-perpetrated possession of counterfeit money with the intention of putting it into circulation as genuine, in such a way that after the search of the apartment by the police, thirty-nine (39) $50 banknotes were found, in total 19.500 US dollars, which are suspected to be counterfeit, in which case they were seized by the police, whereby in co-perpetration they committed the criminal offense: "Counterfeiting of money" under Article 296 paragraph 2 in connection with Article 31 of the Criminal Code", the prosecution's announcement states.

The two defendants, by decision of the state prosecutor, are under a 48-hour detention measure for the aforementioned criminal offense. /Indeksonline/
