European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated today in a post on the X platform that during a meeting with a delegation from the US Congress in Davos, Switzerland, within the framework of the World Economic Forum, she emphasized the need for "unquestionable respect for the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark."

She underlined that this issue has particular importance for transatlantic relations.

Von der Leyen also assured that the European Union wants to continue close cooperation with the United States, NATO and other allies, in full coordination with Denmark, to promote common security interests.

The meeting also discussed transatlantic trade and investment, with the President of the European Commission emphasizing that imposing tariffs is not in the common interest of the parties.

Von der Leyen also announced that the parties also exchanged views on efforts to "achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine."
