FDA: Counterfeit Botox being sold online poses health risks

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned 18 websites that were selling counterfeit Botox after there were reports of people being injured, including serious cases of botulism.

Botox is used to treat wrinkles, migraines and muscle spasms, but counterfeit products that are not checked by doctors can be very dangerous, writes Medical Xpress Reported
Shneta newspaper.

Symptoms include muscle weakness, difficulty breathing and swallowing, speech problems, and drooping eyelids.

The FDA advises citizens to only purchase approved products and have injections from licensed professionals to avoid serious health risks.

This warning comes as a protective measure for public health and to prevent the use of unsafe products.
