Facebook decides to end the era of "Like" and "Share" buttons in these countries
The Meta company has announced that the "Like" and "Share" buttons will be permanently removed on February 10, 2026.
In a blog post, Meta announced that page administrators do not need to take any additional action due to this change, however, they can remove them earlier if they wish.
After the specified date, remaining plugins will “stop working gracefully” – which in practice means they will appear as invisible elements with a size of 0×0 pixels.
This change marks the end of an era for Facebook and Meta. The “Like” and “Share” external plugins were introduced in 2010 as a way for pages to attract more visits through the social network, which was then the main channel for sharing articles and content.
