Famous rapper arrested on the same day he achieved great success

Rod Wave, the 27-year-old rapper from Florida, was arrested in Atlanta on Saturday, the same day he received news of his first Grammy nomination.

He was charged with possession of a weapon or knife during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving. Authorities responded to a possible domestic incident and determined the incident was related to a previous robbery and weapons offense. Wave turned himself in and was released on bail while the investigation continues.

This is his second arrest this year. In May, he was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated assault and tampering with evidence, charges his lawyers denied.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Grammys brought Rod Wave their first nomination in the "Best Song Written for Visual Media" category, for the song "Sinners" from the horror-action film of the same name.
