Football in Argentina is shaken/ Police raid the headquarters of the Federation and 18 clubs in the country
Federal police in Argentina have raided the headquarters of the federation and 18 football clubs in the country as part of a money laundering investigation.
Local media have described this as a financial scandal, while authorities have long focused their investigations on the connection to a private company run by a man very close to President Claudio Tapia.
According to local media, the police are looking for contracts signed by clubs with this company, as well as other documents stored on electronic devices.
Police also raided the Argentine Football Federation's training complex in Ezeiza, about 40 kilometers from Buenos Aires, which is used by the reigning world champions.
The legal action comes amid controversy over alleged irregularities committed by Tapia during his tenure as head of the AFA. These allegations relate to biased decisions and corruption against the number one in Argentine football.
A real shock for the Argentine national team, which a few days ago also learned its rivals in the group stage of the "2026 World Cup", where Lionel Messi and his teammates will seek to defend the most important football trophy on the planet.
