Ford creates "safety hat" specifically for drowsy drivers

If you're a truck driver and have trouble falling asleep while driving, Ford has good news.

The company has created a “safety hat.” It resembles a basketball cap, but is equipped with technology that detects driver drowsiness and then alerts them with lights, sounds, and vibrations.

Ford conducted a study to identify the differences between relaxed and tired drivers, as well as the difference between drowsy moments and those with normal functioning.

This data was fed into the control process in the hat, which has the technology to measure current inputs.

According to a 2016 survey by Ford, 60% of truck drivers considered their jobs dangerous. Many of them revealed that they were offered illegal drugs to increase alertness during long journeys.

The hat might be a good idea, it remains to be seen in practice. /IndeksOnline/
