Germany raises minimum wage, this is how much an hour of work will cost
The German government today approved a decision to increase the minimum wage by 35 cents to 9.19 euros per hour from the beginning of next year and from 2020 to 9.35 euros.
The minimum hourly wage is currently 8.84 euros, Reuters recalls.
The German Minister of Finance, Olaf Scholz, said that he is committed to increasing the minimum wage even more in the future to 12 euros per hour of work.
The latest surge has affected more than 2 million people, Reuters estimates.
According to the German Statistics Office, around 1.4 million people received the minimum in April last year, while another 800,000 people earned less than the minimum.
