Guerot: France expects a government after the elections, we need a partner - journalists must be respected and protected

The French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, has announced that he held a meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, where they discussed the political situation in the country and the December 28 election process.

In a post on social media, Guerot stressed the importance of all political parties having the opportunity to participate in the upcoming elections, so that the process is fully inclusive.

He also underlined that "the role of free media is essential in a functional democracy."

"Journalists must be respected and, if necessary, protected," Guerot stressed.

The French ambassador reiterated France's hope that the December 28 elections will lead to the formation of a new government, saying that his country "needs a full partner to contribute to regional stability and the strengthening of our bilateral relations."

Guerot announced that he informed President Osmani about France's readiness to support the energy transition in Kosovo, preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games, Kosovo's efforts to become a full member of the International Organization of Francophonie, and the development of economic exchanges between the two countries.
