Haradinaj: PDK-LDK are responsible for state capture

The acting Prime Minister, also the leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, today accused the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo of state capture.

Speaking about candidates with indictments and state capture in the next "Talk to Talk" debate of the "Riinvest" college, Haradinaj said that he is not deserving of any of these, as it is the PDK and LDK that have been almost constantly in power.

The only thing he has to account for, the acting prime minister said, is whether he has not done enough to save the state.

"Those responsible for the state capture are those who have been held accountable, in this case, at the national level are PDK-LDK. PDK more so, but LDK is also responsible and they must account to others for why the state capture occurred. There may be criticism of me for not having done more for the state capture from September until now and I agree to give my accounts. But, I cannot be credited for the state capture, which I took on at work in 2017 and I am not the appointee of the senior cadre in the judiciary, the prosecution, or anywhere else," he said.

Asked if AAK will include people with indictments in the list of candidates for deputies, he said that as long as the law allows the latter to run in elections, he will not prohibit such a thing in his party.

According to him, it is good that the question marks are closed with a law. He emphasized that AAK will not issue new norms, but added that if Kosovo considers that it should change the laws, then they are in favor.

He also mentioned the acting Minister of Defense, Rrustem Berisha, who comes from the ranks of AAK, and who has an indictment against him for the case of war veterans.

"For example, I have Rrustem Berisha, the Minister of Defense. He is involved in the indictment for veterans. I don't know what responsibility he had or really has, how he got involved there. Now for me to stop his candidacy is very strange. The law does not stop him, he has the trust to lead the Ministry of Defense. There is no logic, to go outside every parameter of human rights, political freedoms that only the court can stop him", said Haradinaj.

Speaking about this, he again accused PDK and LDK of not changing the laws, and now that the elections are approaching, they are claiming that they do not have people with indictments on their lists.

"PDK - LDK, because now these are more vocal. These have been in power since the war continuously, all the time, from 99 until today. They have not changed the laws, and today they come out because the elections are 3 weeks away, and say: 'we do not have people with indictments'. Excuse me, but you have been both the judge and the judge the whole time. Why haven't you changed these laws, to enable the people to be properly protected", he said.

Asked about the lists of veterans, Haradinaj denied that Kosovo has 60 veterans, while emphasizing that he will not allow anyone to trample on veterans.

"I don't know where you get this number. I don't know that there are 60 thousand veterans, please inquire about the numbers. I don't know exactly. This is what someone is saying, 60 thousand, I don't know why they say it. If you found somewhere that there are 60 thousand, I can see it. But, we work with statistics," said Haradinaj.

At the very end, he also spoke about dialogue with Serbia and reciprocity, in which case he had a message for the new government after the October 6 elections.

"I had begged whoever wins the elections, we aim to win them, I had begged them not to enter into wrong obligations of reciprocity, because they will suffer the consequences very quickly. If someone thinks of removing the tax with reciprocity, what will I give then for recognition, because it is not a problem of suspension for recognition, the problem is that Serbia is only looking for the market to return to the table, and then for recognition which is thought to be a greater sacrifice, what will it ask for. What will these wise men of Kosovo, Albini, Isa, Vjosa, Kadriu or Hashimi, give", said Haradinaj.

He also urged that anyone who represents Kosovo after the October 6 elections should not forget that they represent a sovereign country.

AAK will run with a joint list with Shpend Ahmeti's PSD, after they signed the pre-election coalition, while regarding the representation of women on this list, Haradinaj said that they will respect the 30 percent quota.
