Haziri warns of a deep crisis from January to April: Without a budget, 35% of the public sector will not be paid

The Vice President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, has warned of a deepening political and financial crisis in the country, emphasizing that Kosovo is already operating without a functional government and with serious budgetary constraints.

Speaking to Debat Plus, Haziri said that before April, no light can be seen at the end of the tunnel regarding the exit from the current crisis.

He recalled that by law, the budget was supposed to be closed within this month, which did not happen due to the political blockade.

Haziri announced that the LDK, during the summer, had offered a model of joint governance with a clear agenda for solving the country's 15 main problems, but according to him, this offer was rejected.

According to Haziri, the consequences of the crisis will be felt severely in the first months of next year.

He has warned that in the first three months, at least 35 percent of public employees may not be paid, there may be a 60 percent drop in payments for services and a complete blockage of bill payments.

"The political crisis is about to deepen, at the moment when in the first three months at least 35 percent of public employees of the state have not been paid, 60 percent of payments for services and 100 percent of invoices have fallen. 1/12 of the budget that will be used is for extraordinary situations, because it is called when the government is closed. Only institutions that are for security and institutions that ensure the minimum functioning of the state are operated. From this month, it is being operated in this way because Kosovo does not have a functional government," Haziri declared.
