IMF assesses Kosovo's economic performance and financial stability
Following the conclusion of the official visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Kosovo, which took place from February 3 to 13, a press conference was held, attended by the Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Ahmet Ismaili, and the Head of the IMF Mission for Kosovo, David Amaglobeli.
Minister Murati emphasized that during 2025, Kosovo's economy has demonstrated high stability, emphasizing that economic growth has continued at the positive pace of recent years.
The Minister announced that budget revenues continue to perform very well, while careful expenditure management has enabled an increase in capital expenditures. According to him, this approach contributes to strengthening the long-term potential of economic development.
Governor Ismaili thanked the Ministry of Finance and the IMF mission for their continued and constructive cooperation. He emphasized that the IMF assessment reflects the progress made in strengthening financial and institutional stability. According to him, the financial sector remains healthy and well-capitalized, while Kosovo has made significant progress in the areas of financial supervision, payment systems and digitalization of financial services.
The IMF Mission Chief, Mr. Amaglobeli, congratulated Kosovo's institutions on the completion of the process of forming the Assembly and Government, while announcing that the consultations under Article IV, a regular process that takes place with all IMF member countries, have been concluded.
Mr. Amaglobeli praised Kosovo's macroeconomic stability, highlighting fiscal discipline, low public debt levels and a positive economic outlook. According to IMF projections, economic growth is expected to reach 3.8% in 2026. He reiterated the IMF's strong and long-term partnership with Kosovo's institutions.
The three representatives expressed their commitment to continuing cooperation in order to maintain macroeconomic stability, strengthen social cohesion and promote sustainable economic development of the Republic of Kosovo.
