IPK rejects the claims of "Serbian Democracy": They are untrue, no complaint is hidden - cases are handled professionally

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has rejected the claims of the entity “Serbian Democracy”, according to which over 30 complaints filed by this entity have allegedly been hidden. The PIK has described these claims as untrue and tendentious. The PIK has also stated that no complaint is hidden and that every case that is accepted is officially registered, treated in accordance with the legal mandate and investigated professionally.

The statement also states that the PIK office in North Mitrovica operates regularly and is open to all citizens.

''The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) rejects as untrue and tendentious the claims of the entity "Serbian Democracy", according to which over 30 complaints filed by this entity have allegedly been hidden. IPK clearly emphasizes that no complaint is hidden. Every case that is accepted is officially registered, treated in accordance with the legal mandate and investigated in a professional, objective and independent manner, regardless of the ethnic, political or social affiliation of the complainant. The IPK office in North Mitrovica functions regularly and is open to all citizens. From this office and in the IPK facility in Hajval, 6 complaints from citizens of the northern municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo have been received and treated for the 2025-month period of 38,'' the post states.

The PIK also stated that concrete investigative actions have been taken for each reported case and that the PIK has held regular meetings in North Mitrovica with citizens, civil society organizations, and local and international representatives with the aim of increasing transparency and accountability.

''For each reported case, PIK has undertaken concrete investigative actions based on legal authorizations and has forwarded to the competent Prosecutor's Offices cases where elements of a criminal offense have been established, while in cases of suspicion of administrative violations, they have been forwarded for disciplinary treatment to the Kosovo Police. In each case, PIK, based on legal obligations, notifies the parties about the status of their complaints and the same has happened with the complainants from the entity "Serbian Democracy" who have been notified about the status of their complaints. Also, PIK has held regular meetings in North Mitrovica with citizens, civil society organizations and local and international representatives with the aim of increasing transparency, accountability and public trust in this institution,'' the statement added.

Finally, the post reiterates once again that the accusations that the IPK allegedly "sides with the police" are untrue, and that the IPK is an independent, multiethnic institution based on international standards.

''In these meetings, explanations were given on how citizens' complaints are handled, including the publication of special reports regarding the findings of the investigation for the last five years. The accusations that the PIK allegedly "sides with the police" are untrue. The PIK is an independent, multiethnic institution based on international standards, which is not influenced and treats each case impartially, demanding accountability from the Kosovo Police based on the legal mandate. The PIK encourages all citizens, regardless of community, to submit their complaints to our offices and assures the public that each case is handled with seriousness, professionalism and impartiality,'' the post concludes.
