There is another way to relieve physical pain without using drugs
If you're a fan of meditation, you've probably heard that it acts like a powerful drug. But that claim isn't so hyperbolic and amazing because according to recent research, for people who are experiencing emotional pain, meditation is more effective than morphine.
In one experiment, 75 people were divided into different pain management groups and control groups. After applying a thermal heating pad to the skin, the scientists found that the meditation group's physical pain intensity decreased by an average of 27% and emotional pain intensity was reduced by 44%. On the other hand, using a placebo reduced it by 11% (physical pain) and 13% (emotional pain).
Recent studies have shown that morphine reduces pain by only 22%, making meditation twice as powerful emotionally. This can also happen as a result of thinking that pain is a transient feeling like everything else.
It goes without saying that while you're suffering from a sprained ankle or a broken heart, it's best to take it easy and try this method before medication.
