Jose Mourinho criticizes new trend in football: "Coaches without history are leading giant clubs"
Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has made strong statements regarding the way the world's biggest clubs are selecting technical directors, questioning the criteria and meritocracy in modern football.
"People who have achieved nothing are now coaching the biggest clubs in the world. For me, the real surprise is that coaches with no history or achievements are getting the opportunity to manage top-level clubs," said Jose Mourinho.
According to Mourinho, the appointments of coaches with experience and a history of success are no surprise, on the contrary they are logical and expected choices for clubs with great ambitions.
"When Milan appointed Allegri, or Juventus appointed Spalletti, or Roma appointed Gasperini, it's no surprise to me at all."
The Portuguese stressed that the real problem lies in sensational appointments without a basis in concrete results.
"The real surprise is when giants are taken over by people who have done nothing," said the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho's statements are expected to spark debate in the sports community, especially at a time when many clubs are choosing new coaches or those without a long history of trophies, focusing more on long-term projects than on big names.Indeksonline/
