Kadri Veseli's turn, prosecutor declares: Thaçi and Veseli were involved in the appointment of KLA commanders

Special Prosecutor Mathew Howling has announced that he has completed his statement regarding Hashim Thaçi.

Afterwards, he announced that the case of Kadri Veseli, whom he also introduced with the nickname "Luli", will be addressed next.

Howling stressed that Veseli had a role in appointment processes within the Kosovo Liberation Army.

"Kadri Veseli and Hashim Thaçi were involved in the appointments of commanders," the prosecutor stated.

"We know that at the very beginning we should pay attention when evaluating the arguments of Veseli's defense and all defense teams when they talk about unverified evidence. Our position is that in this matter it is not necessary to rely solely on any witness statements where the accused have not had the opportunity to question the witnesses. Many aspects of Kadri Veseli's individual responsibility have already been discussed. We have discussed with members of the Intelligence that he had in his responsibility during the war and his direct involvement in the crimes."

"Their method was that before they removed someone from the scene, they accused them of being collaborators and so on. The witness added that those who did not respect the People's Movement of Kosovo would suffer the appropriate consequences. This was the situation and this is how it happened," the prosecutor continues. Emrush Xhemajli explains that the LPK has produced and done a four-volume work on strategy and tactics. The front pages and main pages are part of the court evidence. Volume one covers the work that the branch has done against the LPK's detection. No one should think that criminals will remain undetected and that we will spare them. Investigations are also carried out in that element and the goal is to detect camouflaged traitors and spies."

"Liridon Kosova is another example of the same methods in materials, such as exhibit P075 and what we have heard from such witnesses or what Sokol Bashota told the TPN. Veseli's defense relies on the inconsistency of Liridon Kosova, but this does not change Emrush Xhemajli's statement regarding the existence of the collection of tasks and evidence.

As prosecutor Howling said, Veseli was part of the decision to appoint the persons who, according to Howling, oversaw the torture operations.

The prosecutor said that the evidence they presented shows that Veseli "is not abroad in these cases, or disconnected from these events, but is part of the decision made by these persons to oversee the torture operations."

"Mr. Triger showed them the signs. Now I want to return to the two victims in Drenoc who were discussed earlier, but I ask that we go into private session for up to 10 minutes," he added.
