Kaja Kallas compares Trump to Putin over Greenland threat
The EU will maintain its position on Greenland, said Kaja Kallas, the bloc's high representative for foreign affairs, who coordinates member states' diplomacy.
"No country has the right to occupy the territory of another, neither in Ukraine nor in Greenland," Kallas told delegates to the European Parliament.
"Donald Trump's threat to impose tariffs on eight countries that opposed him over Greenland undermined the prosperity of both the EU and the US," she added.
Kallas' comments echoed a statement she made yesterday, after meeting with Denmark's defense minister and Greenland's foreign minister yesterday regarding Trump's threats.
During the day, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called Trump's threats "a mistake" and promised an "Arctic security package" to address security concerns in the region.
