Kosovo Police warns of fake emails misusing the institution's name

The Kosovo Police has issued an official announcement to clarify public opinion regarding the circulation of several fake e-mails, which are being distributed to various electronic addresses, falsely presenting themselves as official documents of this institution.

According to the Police, these emails contain unofficial and falsified information, which claim to have been issued by the Kosovo Police, by the General Director of the KP or by other local and international institutions and organizations, such as the Kosovo Cyber Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Cyber Crime Police and the International Criminal Police Organization.

In these messages, the documents are labeled as “COURT SUBMISSIONS” and are accompanied by file reference numbers, creating the impression of an official announcement. The Kosovo Police emphasizes that these are not official documents and have not been issued by any senior KP official, but are forged emails and documents with certain fraudulent purposes.

The police announce that, in cooperation and coordination with the justice authorities, they have launched intensive investigations following information about the recurrence of such cases. To this end, the competent police units have been engaged to investigate, verify and identify the perpetrators of this criminal offense.

At the same time, the Kosovo Police calls on citizens not to fall prey to such misinformation and scams. All those who receive suspicious emails or documents claiming to be from the Kosovo Police are invited to report them to the official address of the KP.Indeksonline/
