Luxury ''Ferrari'' SUV worth 600.000 euros seized in Tirana
Police in Tirana have seized a vehicle worth around 600.000 euros, a Ferrari SUV, suspected of having benefited from drug trafficking.
Its driver, 33-year-old EV, previously convicted in Turkey for the same offense, was arrested, as well as two other people related to the registration and bringing of the car to Albania.
Investigations continue for the seizure of other criminally derived assets.
"1 Ferrari type vehicle, worth approximately 600.000 euros, suspected of having benefited from drug trafficking, has been seized."
The driver of the vehicle, the perpetrator of this criminal activity, is under investigation in Turkey.
This citizen had registered this vehicle as the property of a 36-year-old man, which had been brought to Albania, on his behalf, by a 33-year-old man.
Both those implicated in this case are also under investigation.
Following the investigations, with the objective of tracing and seizing assets with criminal sources, specialists from the Money Laundering and Assets Investigation Section, in cooperation with the services of the "Eagle" Special Force, finalized the "Red" operation.
As part of the operation, a "Ferrari" vehicle was stopped on "Abdyl Frashëri" street, driven by citizen EV, 33 years old, previously convicted in Turkey for drug trafficking, as investigations suspect that the vehicle was used to benefit from this criminal activity.
Further investigations identified the citizen to whom the 33-year-old had left the vehicle in his possession, in order to avoid being tracked down, specifically S. Ll., 36 years old, as well as the citizen who had brought the vehicle to Albania, on behalf of the 33-year-old, specifically AL, 33 years old.
Following the procedural actions, criminal proceedings were initiated against these 3 citizens.
Also, investigations are ongoing to trace and seize other assets of citizen EV or his relatives, which may have benefited from his criminal activity, in Turkey.
The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action."
