Mercedes introduces S-Class as luxury robot taxi, starts operations in Abu Dhabi
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a futuristic new project: transforming the S-Class into a driverless robo-taxi, a luxury taxi that operates completely autonomously. The service is expected to launch initially in Abu Dhabi, where Mercedes has received the first operating permits.
The car is equipped with advanced Level 4 autonomous technology, including cameras, radar and LiDAR sensors, which enable driverless movement in certain areas, writes Auto Bild, reports. IndeksOnline.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Chinese company Momenta for self-driving systems and with the local company Lumo, which will manage the fleet of robotaxi vehicles.
Mercedes aims to bring a premium experience to autonomous transportation, combining the latest technology with the luxury of the S-Class.
After the first phase of testing in the United Arab Emirates, the company is expected to expand the service to other international markets.
This project places Mercedes among the first European manufacturers to bring high-end robo-taxis into real use./IndeksOnline/
