Musliu requests public hearing on RTK case, proposal supported by chairperson Musliu-Shoshi

At the meeting of the Committee for Public Administration, Digitalization, Local Government, Media and Regional Development, the issue of reports about the dismissal of an employee from Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), for whom suspicions have been raised that she may have been wronged, was discussed.

The committee member from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ganimete Musliu, proposed that the RTK director and the employee in question be invited to a public hearing, so that the committee can hear both sides before issuing a finding.

"I have another request, we are all witnesses to the recent report on the dismissal of an employee from RTK who is suspected of having done you injustice, I think as a parliamentary committee I should invite both the director of RTK and the employee in question to a hearing before this committee. I think this committee should make a decision today on when it can invite these two bodies in this regard so that we can hear their stories and then come up with a conclusion. I know that it has become very big in the media, there have been reactions from both MPs and civil society and everyone, but we need to hear the truth from both of them and if you agree, I would like us to make a decision today to address a request first to the director of RTK that it is good to first hear the institution and then the same day later or the next day also the employee in question so that we can hear her," she said.

The chairwoman of the committee, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi, described the proposal as appropriate, emphasizing that the committee will consider further steps in accordance with legal competences.

"The proposal is appropriate and we have to consider that as a commission we have the right to invite the RTK board, so we will invite the board the week after Tuesday, after they approve the scope of the commission. We know that the board is not functional and we will also look at the law in question to see who we have the right to invite to this commission and who will represent them," said Musliu-Shoshi.

Meanwhile, the committee member from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Egzon Azemi, said that although the issue has been discussed, the actions of other bodies must be awaited before the committee considers it.

"Regarding this issue, we are being informed and in the future it would be possible to take this proposal, but first there are some other bodies that have the obligation to take some steps, then the path can be opened to the commission. But I consider that bringing it to the commission first politicizes this issue more than it can contribute to a proper solution," said Azemi.
