TasteAtlas has published its 2025 ranking of the world's best cuisine, most delicious dishes, and cities where you can enjoy the best food.
Italy has taken the top spot this year, overtaking Greece, which had long held the top spot. After Italy and Greece, the top five are completed by Peru, Portugal and Spain.
In the category of best cities for food, Naples has emerged as the “queen” for 2025, followed by Milan, Bologna, Florence, Mumbai and Genoa. Eating in Crete ranks 64th, while Heraklion ranks 91st, showing that Cretan cuisine is globally appreciated for its taste and traditions.
Naples, considered the birthplace of pizza, offers a wide range of iconic foods such as Neapolitan pizza, pizza fritta and famous pastries such as sfogliatella. The city's traditional dishes, including spaghetti alla puttanesca and spaghetti alla vongole, reflect the region's coastal roots and culinary history, enriched by lively markets and local cuisines.

In the ranking of the best dishes, borí-borí soup from Paraguay took first place, leaving behind Neapolitan pizza, pasta with truffles, satay camping from Indonesia and shish kebab from Turkey. Greece is particularly known for its salads, where Cretan dakos remains in first place, while Naxos gruyere cheese has been declared the best cheese in the world, beating Italian competitors, Topchanel reports.
While Albania ranked 77th, showing that Albanian gastronomy is gaining international recognition, although still far from the primacy of countries more famous for their cuisine.
