Osmani on Judge Laban: I took all measures, I am neither the prosecutor nor the police to tie his hands

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that she has taken all necessary actions regarding Judge Laban, within her powers.
She explained that the role of the reporting judge differs from that of the voting member and that in this specific case Laban is not the presiding judge.

“Regarding Judge Laban, as I have explained in the past, it is completely different to be a reporting judge in a case and it is completely different to be a member where you have the right to only one vote. We all know the decision-making practice of the Constitutional Court. In the vast majority of cases, the report is approved by the majority; the reporting judge gives direction to the case. In this case, Laban is not the presiding judge, but someone else,” Osmani declared.

She said she has informed the relevant institutions about any evidence that has been presented, but added that it is not in the role of the prosecution or the police.

"As for the judge, I have taken all measures within my powers, I have informed the court about this evidence, as it comes and increases. I am neither a police officer nor a prosecutor to tie anyone's hands. I express my concerns, I inform the institutions, the prosecution and the police have their duty and I do not interfere in their work, but everything they needed to know," she said.
