Paris honors Ismail Kadare, places memorial plaque at the address where the writer lived

Besiana Kadare, the daughter of the great Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, has announced that Paris yesterday paid a fitting tribute to her father in the city where he lived and created part of his universal work.

She said the Paris City Council voted unanimously to place a commemorative plaque at their address.

"The Paris City Council voted unanimously to place a commemorative plaque at our address 63 boulevard Saint-Michel 75005, where some of the brightest pages of Albanian literature were born."

"Kadare was a European conscience forged on Albanian soil. He described the identity and journey of the Albanian nation as deeply European long before Brussels recognized it," Besiana wrote.

Furthermore, Besiana Kadare stated that this noble gesture by Europe honors not only the author, Ismail, but also Albania and the contribution of culture to building European spiritual civilization, beyond the boundaries of politics.

"Sometimes it's others who remind us best of who we are and what we've given to the world. Thank you Paris and France for this bright remembrance," she wrote.
