Porsche introduces "smart glasses" for car repairs [Photo]
Porsche dealership technicians will soon use high-tech glasses to receive instructions and send real-time footage to the company's US headquarters in Atlanta.
Porsche released a press release introducing new "Augmented Reality" technology that aims to aid car mechanics and repair, reports IndeksOnline.
These glasses work with "Tech Live Look" software which provides high-resolution images and auto focus, thus providing details of small parts such as the insertion of screws.
In their press release, Porsche explains how the glasses allow technicians from across the continent to communicate with the company's support staff in Atalanta, saying:
When a service technician at a Los Angeles dealership is equipped with goggles and connected via software to Porsche's technical support team based in Atlanta (2,200 miles away), it allows the support team to see exactly what they are seeing in real time.
Porsche says the system is significantly more efficient than sending data via email or phone. /IndeksOnline/
