Pristina Municipality with instructions for citizens, after the earthquake

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake caused significant tremors in Pristina and beyond.

Although the epicenter was east of Prizren, the tremors were felt throughout Kosovo, reports IndeksOnline.

The Municipality of Pristina has provided some important instructions for citizens to increase safety in this type of situation.

Instructions include staying away from windows and objects that may fall, going out into open spaces with caution, not using elevators, and so on.

This is the full announcement from the Municipality:

Dear citizens,

Tonight, at 22:05, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast Kosovo (Prizren–Shtërpcë area).

The earthquake was felt in several parts of the country. So far, there are no reports of injuries or serious damage. The relevant institutions are continuously monitoring the situation.

Important instructions for citizens:

 • If there are other shaking, stay away from windows and objects that could fall.

 • Indoors, take shelter under a sturdy table or near a retaining wall.

 • After shaking, carefully exit to open spaces.

 • Do not use elevators and avoid unnecessary movements.

 • Check homes and help people in need.

  • Get information only from official sources.
