Quentin Tarantino makes surprising statement about shooting in the film "Rust"

Quentin Tarantino recently spoke out about the incident that occurred on the set of "Rust" in October 2021, in which Baldwin shot filmmaker Hutchins.

In the latest episode of the podcast "Club Random with Bill Maher," Tarantino said that Baldwin is partly responsible for the fatal shooting.

“I can say with certainty that the person holding the gun is 90% responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun,” he said. “But, at the same time, the actor is also 10% responsible, because it’s a gun and during the making of a film, the filmmakers and the actors, both parties, have responsibilities.” The director indicated that there is a procedure, which is detailed for the actor holding a firearm during the filming of a film. “If there are steps that must be followed and respected, then great care must be taken by everyone and this is true in the production of any new film,” continues Quentin.

Recall that Baldwin accidentally fired the gun that was supposed to be used for the scene, killing the cinematographer and injuring the film's director.

A judge in New Mexico dismissed manslaughter charges against the actor, agreeing with the defense that prosecutors and police concealed evidence about the source of the bullet that killed filmmaker Hutchins.
