Renault brings back the icon: Twingo E-Tech Electric, revolution in the city segment

Renault has brought back one of the most beloved models in its history – the Twingo. More than three decades after the debut of the first version in 1992, the French brand is introducing the Twingo E-Tech Electric, a fully electric model that aims to revolutionize the small urban car segment.

When it was first launched, Twingo brought a completely new spirit: bold design, vibrant colors and exceptional space for its size. Today, Renault brings back the same spirit – but updated with modern technology, making Twingo a compact, affordable and practical electric car for urban life.

A segment that is resurgent

Although today A-segment vehicles account for less than 5% of the European market, demand for small, economical and city-friendly cars remains high. Many manufacturers have withdrawn from this segment due to the costs of new standards and customer expectations, but Renault has chosen to see this as a development opportunity.

Iconic and practical design

Twingo E-Tech Electric retains the DNA of the original model – a fun, distinctive and functional car. With five doors, two sliding rear seats, a folding front passenger seat and optimised space, it offers maximum flexibility for everyday use.

Modern technology and experience

Built for smooth, emission-free driving, the new Twingo comes with advanced driving assistance technology, the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google integrated – a first for this category. The “One Pedal” function allows braking and acceleration with a single pedal, making city driving much easier.

The 60 kW electric motor and LFP battery offer up to 263 km of autonomy (WLTP), while the starting price of under 20,000 euros makes it one of the most affordable electric cars on the European market.

European production and launch in 2026

Twingo E-Tech Electric will be produced at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, maintaining the production base within Europe and contributing to Renault's goal of sustainable decarbonization. The model's launch is scheduled for early 2026.

“To offer a small electric car under 20,000 euros, without compromising on quality, European manufacturing and value for the customer, we returned to the 'soul of Twingo'. It represents play, everyday life and ingenuity,” said Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand.

“Twingo E-Tech Electric is a tribute to its origins and a big step towards the future.”
