Shala: Deployment of anti-drone systems by KFOR, a signal for increased technological readiness in Kosovo

KFOR operational units have recently been seen during patrols equipped with tactical-level anti-drone systems, capable of use down to the platoon level.

The news has been confirmed through the official presentation and publication of photographs by KFOR itself, where the advanced equipment is seen integrated into patrol structures.

Security expert Drizan Shala described this as a clear escalation of technological readiness and air defense on the ground.

"This action makes KFOR better prepared to face modern threats emanating from the use of drones for reconnaissance, provocation or local destabilization purposes," Shala assessed.

According to him, the new system provides immediate capabilities for detecting, identifying and neutralizing unmanned aerial vehicles at close range, reinforcing the protection of troops and the integrity of operations in sensitive areas.

"This development shows that KFOR is quickly adapting to the hybrid nature of threats in the region, where civilian technologies are becoming instruments of information and operational warfare," Shala added.

He emphasized that this step is expected to strengthen the interaction between KFOR structures and the Kosovo Police in order to protect tactical airspace and prevent possible drone incidents in border areas.
