Is Taylor Swift leaving music? Taylor Swift reacts for the first time

Taylor Swift has reacted strongly to recent speculation circulating among fans, who claim that she will retire from music after her marriage to Travis Kelce.

During an interview given on BBC Radio 2 with journalist Scott Mills, Swift was asked if her newest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," would be the last in her career.

""Don't tell me this is your last album?" – Mills asked.

"What? No!" – Swift responded immediately, in a surprised and determined tone.

The journalist further explained that some fans have suggested that after marrying Kelce and perhaps a future family, Swift will retire from music.

The singer reacted with indignation: "That's an incredibly insulting thing to say. That's not the point of marriage — to quit your job."

Swift added that her relationship with Kelce is built on mutual support and understanding of the passion each has for their profession:

“I love the person I'm with because they love what I do, and they appreciate how fulfilled I feel when I create art and music.”

Swift showed that she and Kelce, despite coming from different industries - she from music and he from sports - have found common ground:

“We both work in NFL stadiums for over three and a half hours. He has practices, I have practices. He has games, I have shows. We just call them different. We both have teams, we both perform for audiences. It’s the same in a lot of ways.”

Swift and Kelce have been together since the summer of 2023 and made their engagement official in August 2025.

The couple posted a joint photo on Instagram on August 26, sharing the news with fans, although the proposal had happened two weeks earlier.

The singer was careful to emphasize that her love for music has no intention of fading away and that marriage will not change this:

“Imagine if he said to me, ‘I thought you were going to stop making music after we got engaged.’ That wouldn’t make sense. He got to know me as an artist – and he respects that.”
