The 20 richest cities in the world
How do you measure a city's wealth? The amount of goods and services produced? In tax revenue? Or in purchasing power, that is, the disposable income of its residents?
British consulting firm Henley and Partners, a kind of citizenship service provider for the wealthy, keeps a list of how many super-rich people live in which cities.
With the same density of billionaires, the rate of wealth growth is weighted higher than the number of (multi-) millionaires.
Last year, the number of billionaires worldwide increased by 141 to 2781. In other words, every 2.5 days someone entered this exclusive circle. And since 2001, their number has increased almost sixfold, KosovaPress reports.
At the top, however, they continue to surround French entrepreneur Bernard Arnault, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Tesla CEO and Donald Trump advisor Elon Musk.
The richest cities in the world according to Henley and Partner for 2024 are: New York with 349,500 millionaires. The growth of millionaires was 48 percent within the period 2013-2023. After New York, the largest number of millionaires is in the Bay Area (USA) – 305,700, with an 82 percent increase in millionaires from 2013-2023. In third place is Tokyo with 298.300.
Singapore, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Sydney, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Chicago, Toronto, Milan, Melbourne, Frankfurt, Houston, Zurich, Dubai, Dallas follow. The list contains a total of 50 richest cities. The last five are Guangzhou (China), Tel Aviv, Dublin, Auckland (New Zealand) and Manchester (23,200 millionaires, with an increase of 8 percent from 2013-2023).
