The car that stops itself if it notices you're getting into an accident

Mazda is developing a car that takes over the driver's job the moment it believes the car is about to crash.

The Japanese company, known for its MX-5 sports car, is launching what it calls a 'co-pilot system' that will brake the vehicle if it goes out of control or fails to stop, writes IndeksOnline.

The company boss believes the technology, which could be ready in 2020, will enable older drivers to stay behind the wheel but reduce the risk of accidents.

This can also prevent drivers from falling asleep at the wheel, having panic attacks, or having any illness while driving.

Mazda's co-pilot system works by monitoring the driver's hands on the steering wheel and their feet on the brake and accelerator pedals.

The vehicle will also be equipped with self-driving technology, such as cameras and sensors that monitor other cars and vehicles where they are positioned on the road. /IndeksOnline/
